Victor & Penny and The LCO

Check out their website at www.victorandpenny.com, or find them on Facebook!

Victor & Penny deliver swing-infused folk-jazz in the band’s signature high-energy style with joy, humor, and soaring musical improvisation. Victor & Penny were named “Best Folk Ensemble 2015” by the PITCH; “Standout Concert of the Year” by the Joplin Globe; and are two-time Folk Alliance International official showcase artists. V&P feature tight vocal harmonies, dazzling guitar work, and a fiery ukulele. This corset-tight group brings a modern Kansas City voice to their original tunes and prohibition era jazz with sterling musicianship. When joined by their fine band, Loose Change Orchestra, the red-hot horn section and upright bass bring sparks a-plenty and virtuosic musicianship. V&P impress and delight with charm and hot licks and they are an “absolute rollicking blast.” Since 2010, Victor & Penny (aka Jeff Freling and Erin McGrane) have been thrilling audiences nationally with their deft blend of originals, hot jazz, and swing.

Shattered Glass
Saturday, April 7, 2017
7:30 PM

In 2012 a group of friends in New York City came together to form a conductorless string ensemble that was truly collaborative and self-operated. Virtuosic and versatile, Shattered Glass has performed repertoire ranging from J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart to Krzysztof Penderecki and crossover projects with Grammy®-nominated hip-hop artists. From the concert hall to the salon, Shattered Glass adapts in size to fit the venue and repertoire, transforming from an intimate duo to a full chamber orchestra – at times within a single performance.

In the spirit of collaboration, Shattered Glass members regularly rotate the role of principal player and participate in a democratic system for creating and selecting programs. The result is a fresh and exciting approach to all aspects of performance which has led to a wide array of opportunities: A self-governed Midwest tour, performances at high profile events such as at TEDxEAST, a Carnegie Hall premiere at Zankel Hall in 2013, and a performance in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2014 featuring violin soloist Alexander Markov. Equally active in educational outreach, Shattered Glass has worked with hundreds of young artists at schools and programs in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan.

Pony Creek

  Find Pony Creek on Facebook!

Pony Creek, a musical collaboration between Ryan Osbahr and Billie Frost, was formed in the spring of 2017.  Hailing from the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro, the name “Pony Creek” is derived from a small creek by the same name that runs between the duo’s homes. Playing a variety of folk, blues, Americana, country and rock, Pony Creek has quickly made a name for themselves across the Midwest as one of the region’s hottest new acts.  Whether playing Spencer, Iowa’s Wheels Up festival for RAGBRAI 2017 or rocking the crowd for southwest Iowa’s Tri-City BBQ Fest in Denison, Pony Creek delivers family friendly entertainment that connects with all ages.  Opening for national artists such as Jeremy McComb (Nashville), Jason Eady (Jackson, MS) and Tucker Beathard (Nashville), the band continues to gain popularity in the Midwest region. Joined by a backing band, Pony Creek is currently in the process of recording their debut album, expected for release in the summer of 2018.
